Champions League Preview

After a break we welcome back the Champions League as the final 18 sides battle it out for a place in the quarter finals. Two European giants go head to head as the clear stand out tie of the last 18, as Arsenal face Italian side AC Milan over a two legged encounter. AC Milan host Arsenal in the first leg at the San Siro and then visit The Emirates for the second leg. The Rossoneri were famously knocked out of the same competition by their opponents this year in 2008 thanks to a wonderful individual display from then captain Cesc Fabregas.

AC Milan have found it difficult against Engish side of late having been knocked out of the tournament at this stage by Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the last three seasons. Looking at both sides form coming into this match, Arsenal have won their last two matches in the league against Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland, whilst Milan having been competing at the top of Serie A.

There are also some other interesting ties taking place with current champions Barcelona taking on German side Bayer Levekusen who came through a tricky group containing Chelsea to get to this stage, if you?re into football betting then it?s clear Barcelona would be a good bet to get through this group.

French side Lyon take on surprise package APOEL who will be delighted to have even made this stage of the competition.

If I have a million free bets then I would certainly put those on Lyon coming through this two legged tie.

Russian side Zenit take on Portuguese side Benfica in a tricky tie to call with the Russian side being very unpredictable but on their day can produce quality performances.

Another Russian side in action is CSKA Moscow how will not have pleased with their draw as they take on Spanish giants Real Madrid with Jose Mourinho under immense pressure to deliver success to the Spanish capital it?s unlikely CSKA will get anything from this tie.

Napoli face further English opposition as they take on a Chelsea side under pressure after some dreadful league form and with Andre Villas-Boas knowing this competition is the only realistic chance of bringing some silverware to Stamford Bridge.

French side Marseille take on 2010 Champions Inter Milan with the French side looking to take advantage of a Milan side that haven?t been playing at their best in the Champions League this season.

The final tie of the last 18 sees Swiss side Basel who knocked Manchester United out of the group stages face German giants Bayern Munich in what should prove to be an interesting encounter.

The German side boast a squad full of quality players and will fancy their chances of winning the whole competition if they can avoid the likes of Barcelona in the early knock out stages
